Did you know...

•·    There are over 70,000 chemicals in our homes, food and environment that didn't even exist 50 years ago? The EPA states that only a fraction of those have gone through testing for human health concerns.

•·    Women who stay at home have a 54% higher risk of cancer than those who work out of the home?

•·    Common everyday household products contain ingredients KNOWN to cause cancer, lung damage, respiratory irritation and severe damage to eyes, skin, mouth and throat?

•·    More than 9 out of 10 suspected poison exposures occur at home with household products?

Our children and pets are most susceptible to toxic consequences because their systems are less developed to deal with these chemicals, and they are more likely to touch and taste any residues left in our homes?

What's happening?

Did you know there are over 70,000 chemical in our world today that did not exist 50 years ago? These chemicals are part of our everyday life and only a fraction of these have been tested for toxicity in humans or pets. Of even more concern is the reality that most experts have no idea how these toxins will affect us in the many combinations that surround us, especially over a lifetime of exposure.

Dr. Needleman, M.D. has stated that "we are, by default, conducting a massive clinical toxicological trial. And our children and their children are the experimental animals." This is scary stuff for parents who just want their children to be safe and healthy, and for all of us who grew up in this new world of powerful products and ingredients we can't even pronounce. The good news is that we can all make some simple changes that will significantly reduce the danger to ours and our children's health.

How does this affect us?

It turns out we have control over much of our exposure to these chemicals, since we typically spend 80-90% of our time indoors in our own homes. Ordinary household and personal care products we use everyday are responsible for more than 2 million accidental childhood poisonings each year, and are believed to be contributing to soaring asthma and allergy rates. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) reports that our indoor air pollution is 5 to up to 70 times higher than outdoor air. Birth defects, central nervous system disorders and cancer are on the rise. Environmental Illness and Multiple Chemical Sensitivities have become common. The evidence is convincing and startling when we take the time to look at the big picture.
